Stroke of BAD LUCK. The Tiger MP system stopped working!

This system killed a memory stick 2 or 3 weeks ago. I haven't received the replacement yet and was running on the remaining 3 sticks of Crucial memory. But this morning, about an hour ago, it locked up and doesn't want to post anymore🙁

It will be awhile before I can take a look at the problem😱

Get yourself a roll of duct tape, some dental floss, a can of WD40 and some ball bearings.

Everything's ball bearings these days 😉

conjur: You think it's the 7th fetser valve?

Great movie!

IsOs: Sorry to hear that man. A dead PC sucks!

Man, you have had the worst luck with memory. Does Crucial keep replacing them? Does Crucial have your motherboard in their configurator?

Is it the Tyan S2460 Tiger MP motherboard? Ouch that memory is expensive $122 for 256MB and $222 for 512MB! :Q

My S2490 just ate a stick the other day too. I guess I need to hurry up and send in for an RMA before it eats the other 2 :Q

bot, Crucial doesn't show your motherboard in their configurator. What brand are you using? I'm pretty sure Izzy is using Crucial.

Forgive me if my memory is fuzzy here but I do believe Russ reported having issues with his ram constantly dying in the Tyan MP board, if I recall correctly he isolated the problem down to being a 3com nic and had been communicating with Tyan about the problem. I have the Tyan MP setup and based on his trouble shooting went with an Intel pro nic instead and have thus far had no issues with my DDR.

I had read that from him as well, my RAM is also crucial, but my NIC is not 3com. My nic is SMC. I have had the board since right after they first became available, so it actually lasted awhile. I think I got the board in August or something like that, but mine might have lasted longer since I am running Durons so my FSB is 100 instead of 133.

It's another stick of dead memory! That's what made my computer lock up this morning. That particular module will not even boot up my Tiger MP.

I've ran out of memory shipping box. I have to wait until the other two arrive before calling this one in.
I have a cheap Realtek NIC with this Tiger. Prior to last month's problem, this board was loaded with 4 sticks of 256MB. Now only 2 of the sticks are alive🙁

Crucial and I are getting confused as to which stick belong to which order. They called me to let me know that the order number I gave them didn't match the batch of the stick that I returned. Took us awhile before we were able to locate the correct order number.

Join the damn club!!! :|

My dual Xeon (Supermicro S2DGE) ate *2* sticks - 1 Crucial ECC registered & 1 Corsair ECC registered. I have never seen anything like it, especially since the error beeps kept making it appear there was something wrong with the keyboard controller (6 beeps). It's up and running on a 512MB stick of some el cheapo (well not really cheap) PNY. The dual-Xeon has a 3Com NIC (3C59x), but I've had this machine running since 6/2000 (originally using some Mushkin ECC, later some Compaq ECC). When the Compaq ECC suddenly started getting random errors (but from the same memory address), I tried replacing with the Crucial.

What's wild is that I had heard about the Crucial problem so when I put the stick of Corsair in and powered it up, I was fascinated at what looked like an LED on one of the chips on the stick. LED my a$$! :Q That was something melting a hole in the chip! :Q 🙁

Man, I think I spoil that Xeon WAY too much... grrrrr. :frown:

Well, I'll give you credit for having a lot more patience than I would on this issue. What has Tyan had to say regarding this ongoing problem ? I mean the MP certainly isn't a cheap MB and the issues you've been having are not acceptable in the least.

My Tiger MP has 2 sticks of crucial and it hasnt had any issues. I have a Netgear FA310TX for a NIC. I keep hearing about this but havent seen it myself. "Fingers crossed"
