Stripped Standoff Hole

So eveything was going smoothly, and I was screwing my motherboards into the standoff. One of the holes is stripped out, and the standoff spins when I srew it in. The hole that the standoff sits in is stripped out. Any suggestions on how to remedy this? I'm a little angry because I was very gentle, and this thing shouldn't have stripped. I've tried other standoffs to no avail. Thanks.
 
nm..you probably do not have overlength brass standoffs to do as I'd suggested ..you can try JB Weld(a 2 part epoxy/compound)
 
Also, you'll be fine if you're only missing a few of the standoffs. As long as you have one reasonably close to each corner and a couple near the middle of the board, you should be good to go. They're basically there just to keep it in place and make sure it's elevated (and thus not shorting out on the motherboard).
 
I just use an approptiate sized nut (or if there is enough room, a spare standoff - or you can cut the male threaded part off) on the underside of the chassis when I strip a hole (most mobo standoffs are #6 thread). If you are unfortunate and your standoffs are the metric thread (M3) you will need to use another standoff (if the female thread is the same) - some hardware stores carry a good selection of nuts and you can often buy one at a time.

:thumbsup: yeah, I don't think I even have all the standoffs attached for my board right now. As long as the board isn't going anywhere, it's cool.
 
Thanks. There were 2 standoffs that had an extra little lip on the top. When I screwed that in it worked and tightened down properly. Weird.
