Information my system:

SATA RAID0 two raptors / controller is onboard silicon image
Motherboard is an ABIT NF7-S v2
Barton 2800 cpu

More on the problem:

From boot (cold or warm) When system attempts to verify the DMI, delay
once verified, it takes about half a minute for the drive LED to become active (no sound from the drives either during this time.
Once the drives start clicking along the log-on screen comes up fairly quick.
The time to load a user is somewhat lower than it usually is.
And again, windows explorer has trouble finding the "C" drive (the RAID array) it takes sometimes a minute or more. I should add that this occurs only the first time I attemt to view the drive, subsequent attempts open the drive normally. All other drives open immediately first click. The problem seems to be with the raid array, but it did not used to do this.

try reinstalling the raid drivers in windows but the fact that you are lagging at boot would indicate possible drive failure they often flake out when they fail.get a little prog called hdspeed and test the raid if you see a verry spiky ouput graph then it is ide issues.
you may have to break and rebiuld the raid to get the speed back but only as a last resort
good luck

HD Tach shows read at 100.1 max; 70.4 min; avg 80.9 mb/s.

About the raid driver. I did update to the lastest one from Abit, this installed within the Windows program using device manager. I do know that when I first installed Windows, I had to load a driver during set-up. Should I try something along that line? Is it possible to do without doing a new install?
