Question Strip Win10 to bare essentials?

Are there any app to remove the bloat from 10 like the store, games, x-box, Edge, messenger, etc?

You can manually delete some of them, but there are some apps it won't let you.

It's just settings in Win 10.

The last time I used Nlite was with win XP.

I was looking at the way you could edit the wim file to strip it out before install. Looked over my head.

I would actually pay for a Windows 10 license with what you've requested and with the telemetry stripped out and full control of updates.

No idea if this was included in the videos above or if it helps speed but for easily tweaking privacy settings you can try the popular O&O ShutUp10 tool.

I've often said that... 2 versions of W10, the full bloat, tile version, and the stripped down, Real PC user version... I like to call it Windows 17 (that is W7+W10= W17.) Hey, I can dream, can't I?

Thanks, I did use that. Think I stripped too much out as I couldn’t boot anymore

There’s actually Windows 10 LTSC which is an Enterprise version that strips all of that out including telemetry. It doesn’t get feature updates very often. I tried looking into it but it’s confusing with the MAK/KMS keys and wether you need a prior Win 10 license,

I like the way you think. I was going to do something similar. Recently I had to update my newer machine to Windows 10 so a game would work. I had planned on keeping my older machine on Windows 8 (or linux) for daily stuff. My Win 8 machine is in my bedroom though and I like to associate that room with sleep only.

So far I've only tried the recommended settings in O&O Shutup10. Good to know you can go too far

I did read that the enterprise version might be better. I figure it's expensive though and Linux is free.

I've ramped up OOSX pretty tight, so far, so good. I don't use any of the MS garbage like Cortana, Edge, One Drive, or any of it.

I have four different installs of Win10 that have been tweaked with O & O's Shut Up and App Buster. They all have only the os on the C drive. The total amount of files is 12 GB or less on each one.

The amount of temporary files created by Win10 is astronomical. I am constantly getting rid of them. All four of these boxes are quick to boot up, trouble free and have never seen a BSOD.

Now I think I just need a good hosts file.

There’s a guy on eBay with 2 licenses for $150. Can’t tell if sketchy, comes on a MS flash drive.

you must call M$ for volume license purchase, 5 is volume but the price will be 300..

ya actually i think you do need a windows 10 key too, but the pro key isnt much compared to finding legit ltsc keys.
