hi.......

let me start from the beginning

a few weeks ago I fell asleep with my contacts on. the next day, it was very red. went on for a few days and I wore glasses while it was getting better..... got ok, so I put my contacts back on for a couple days. and it got red again. so I went to see a doctor and he said nothing was wrong with my cornea or anything and it might be an bacterial infection so he gave me antibacterial eyedrops. after two days it got better. after about a week of antibacterial eyedrop use, I finally put my contacts back on today... and after a few hours it got red again1!!! :|

so I took them out.... except this time I also had stringy white-yellow mucus come out at the same time. wtf? what's going on with my eyes?

anyone had any first-hand experience similar to this? if it doesn't get better tomorrow I'm going to re-visit the doctor and hopefully he'll transfer me to the University hospital to see the optomologist.

:|

thanks for any help

Damaged contact?

I wear gas permeables and once had a tiny scratch you couldn't even see and until I replaced the lens that eye was always irritated. If I wore glasses it cleared up right away. If it only happens with the lens in, I would say that would be the most logical thing.

i had this EXACT same symptoms. Go to an optomologist. i had sores beneath my eyelids from wearing my contacts at work (dusty environment). I went MONTHS without knowing what was wrong (visited my doctor and optometrist). I finally called up my optomologist and he flipped my eyelids and checked under them to see that they were sore from dry eye. I got some eyedrops to reduce the swelling and after a couple weeks of using them without wearing contacts, i was able to go back to mainly contacts. But dude, I had the SAME EXACT symptoms!

Did you put in the old contacts? If so, they still may have the bacteria on them, which would result in the symptoms occuring again.

Whenever you have contacts and any type of bacterial eye infection, you should dispose of those contacts and wear glasses until the infection clears up, and then use new contacts.

Yes, Conjunctivitis (aka Pink Eye) FTL !!

Wear your glasses for a week
+ use anti biotic eyedrops for a week
+ don't touch your eyes for a week, if you can't help it, buy some purell and sterilize your hands regularly
+ sterilize your contacts (and cases and anything else you put them in/near) during that week (or if they are disposables, switch to a new pair)
+ possibly new bottles of contact fluid if you're really paranoid

= FTW !!!

actually that might be it.... although when I slept in them, they were old and when I stopped using them for a few days the first time it happened, I got out new contacts. (they're month prescriptions)

hmmm.....
