What your mind remembers is kind of amazing at times. I'll forget something I did last month but I still remember the first time I saw JMV.
Our dad got one of the first satellite dishes in town and my brother and I would "surf the atmosphere" when he wasn't home. Nothing was scrambled, not even playboy channel. It was all out there for the watching. Sports broadcast were especially good because the announcers would talk freely during commercial breaks, sometimes saying pretty lewd things about girls in the audience, the opposing team etc.
Anyway - the first movie we found was a flick called "Defiance" (I had to look it up) on an HBO feed and we watched the whole thing. I can't remember if it was good or not, but JMV was great. I really liked him, and after that I went out my of my way to watch movies and TV that he was in.
Looks like he was fairly busy from the late 60's until 2002.He must have retired, or been forced into retirement at that time.
RIP I always enjoyed watching him.
