Action series returns after a 2-year absence with an entirely new cast that includes Warren Brown, Daniel MacPherson, and Roxanne McKee.

The Strike Back reboot with a new cast moves away from the Lethal Weapon buddy-cop format of the original series, led in its Cinemax incarnation by Philip Winchester and Sullivan Stapleton, to a diverse ensemble in the vein of the Fast & the Furious franchise, which spreads the action among four characters — two male and two female.

Not sure why they want to reboot this, the old format was pretty good.

Because Hollywood can't come up with an original ideal, they just rehash an old idea with a "new spin".

apparently the other 2 guys are on to new shows so couldn't be brought back. SB s2-s5 was awesome. the reboot doesn't use blanks but adds effects in post so feels iffy too. haven't seen ep 3 yet but have a strong desire to rewatch scott and stonebridges strike back now

I was excited to see it being rebooted but it sounds like they are changing a lot so I'm not really excited at all now

I watched the first couple episodes and like it but not quite as much as the old series with Stonebridge and Scott. I liked their chemistry and back-and-forth, it kinda made the show really.

The new series is basically the same action-wise and story-wise (investigate and hunt down and kill the terrorist, basically) and everything else, although instead of the two major characters and a couple supporting ones, the new series has still two major characters but I think they're trying to expand the roles of the supporting/minor characters. The "loose cannon" type Section 20 guy (Scott in the previous seasons, Wyatt in this season) has had some screen time of bumping uglies, already, so at least that hasn't changed.

I think people who like the previous Strike Back seasons, the ones with Scott/Stonebridge at least, would mostly like this one. I mean besides the different main characters I find it hard to argue that it's so different that you're not going to like it if you did before. It's been a series of fun and pretty mindless action speckled with humor (post-Armitage anyway) and this season is more of it.
