Strictly speaking, do I have any obligation with this Fedex damaged package?

The person recieved this package and everything seems fine viewing the results from the tracking link. However, the item received damaged during shipping, the Fedex guy was there when it was opened and saw the damage but there are no comments or remarks that the package had been received as damaged or that the package was rejected. It was signed and accepted as everything was fine from what I can tell..

It depends. You can file a claim, but damage can be ruled your fault if you didnt package it properly. Send a monitor with no cushioning and the screen gets broken, its your fault.

FedEx should cover the loss. If they don't, the nice thing to do would probably be to meet the buyer half way and refund part of the price. Most probably wouldn't be happy unless they get all their money back, though.

Him signing for the package might not have helped. I thought in situations like this you were supposed to reject the package if it's damaged.

Reject when damaged, by signing the receiver takes responsibility that it arrived in good standing order.

If I bought an item and had it insured and it arrived damaged, I would expect the buyer to refund the money to me.

If he signed and accepted the package, isn't the liability solely on the person who received the item?
