stretched video..constant full screen (aspect ratio?)

I have a Toshiba Satellite 5005-S507 notebook computer. When I watch movies such as Divx, VCD, AVI the video is always stretched to take up the entire screen. I have tried every possible setting that I can think of. I have even posted the question on the Toshiba forum with no replies. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

come on, Have I finally stumped all of the anandtech users? Any ideas?
