Strep + Ear Infection = ?

well ... not being about to stand up for very long without feeling as if I will fall over, 3 different prescriptions - one for ear drops (yay.), and most importantly, a couple days off from work! The Doc said so...

Now if only I could sit upright long enough to post something meaningful...

Have some good bed rest ... try not to yawn & pop that ear

<-- very familiar with ear infections 🙁

My g/f gets that every winter, although she only got a minor case so far. Florida people cannot survive the new england weather.

Did your strep lead to your ear infection?

This spring, I thought I had strep throat and went to urgant care for it. It wasn't strep, but the doctor said I had some inflammation in the back of my throat and gave me some antibiotics. I left the next day to go visit my parents and by the time I got there, the pharmacy was closed so I didn't get the perscription filled.

When I woke up on Saturday, I felt fine so I never had the antibiotics filled.

Sunday I woke up with intense pain in my ear at about 3am. It was bad. I raided Mom and Dad's fridge for leftover antibiotics but they didn't have any. My Dad did have a bottle of penicillin that he gives to the animals - my Mom came downstairs and found me trying to calculate the dosage I'd need because I was about to give myself an injection of it since the pain was so bad. She called my sister who drove me the 45 minutes to a 24hr pharmacy to get my perscription filled.

Ear infections SUCK. I won't be putting off taking antibiotics the doctors perscribe me any longer.
