I suppose it was bound to happen somewhere in the world at one time or another. When it did happen, the story headlines on BBC even though it occurred in NYC.

Sad story, but this stuff happens everyday on busy streets. At least he still has the other dog, I'm sure he'll give it twice the love now.

gee....could it have been the owners fault for not keeping a tighter leash on his dog?...I mean it's not like the sweeper jumped the curb and devoured the little bug-eyed, snot nosed mutt.

I sucked down a dog on a busy street once--a hot dog with onions and mustard and ketchup.

No, that is not sig material.

Why was the dog roaming in the street if hes trying to put the dog into the car?

Now if he's doing it on the driver side then why does the dog have so much room to move around when he's in the street? Especially when a street sweeper doesn't just magically appear, you can hear it from quite a distance away.

Also sames the driver had to see someone with the car door open with dogs, that just begs the question why was he driving so close to his car?

The owner here is negligent and shouldn't own pet's and the driver should be fired for ignoring simple driving basics.

That's all I can think of. Sad story yes, totally irresponsible pet owner, even more so. Why isn't he facing cruelty charges?

Fuckin moron.

I hope you turn your back on your kid for 2 seconds and it gets eaten by a dog which then gets sucked up and pureed in a streetsweeper.

I hope you understand that's -also- the parents fault.

Think about the children!!!

No, this does not.

Yes.. it does.

Obviously not with street sweepers, but I would hope people like you understood I meant in terms of cars and trucks killing dogs it happens everyday.

dog was on a leash. man was opening car door, dog was in the street, dog was sucked into street sweeper, man was spun around as leash was still on dog, leash snapped.

The dog was on a leash, not roaming the streets...the man was pulled around when the machine grabbed the dog, until the leash broke.

Just how fast do you think an operating street sweeper drives at? I wouldn't compare those collisions with each other because of the mismatched speeds.

Right?

A human is entirely different then an animal. Hoping that someone's child dies is pretty fucking rude.

Because that would be absurd.

Sounds like the street sweeper wasn't paying attention and killed the poor doggy. He's lucky he didn't kill the owner also.

Well the dog had to be a ways away into the street then (eg. using a long skinny leash) for that to happen though. I mean if the dog had been on a short leash he would have been closer to the car and well out of harms way.

A street sweeper can only get so close...

I mean don't you be careful when you take your pets into the street beforehand that some drivers are shitty drivers? Why would you extend the leash out so the dog can move away from your sight of vision.

street sweepers get close enough to hit mirrors, im blaming the sweeper, a short leash would not have stopped this, hell it could have been one anyway
