street smart vs. book smart

what would you rather be, and why?

who do you think makes it further in life in terms of:

happiness
money
job satisfaction etc?

I think a good mix is the best answer. If I had to choose between the two then I'd go with book smart because the way the poll is set up you're limited to one or the other... meaning ALL of one and NONE of the other. 😛

Dumb people always brag about how "street smart" they are while they serve you your fries. I'm with Fingolfin, a mixture of intelligence and common sense is best.

a good mix is what i think most people would reply. i'm forcing the option of either/or on them! 🙂
like if you HAVE to chose one.

Well, if you have to choose to have all of one and none of the other then I'd much rather be book smart. You can learn a lot of things from books and the learned people will hopefully have enough money to not mix with the street smart people. 😛

Agree, you need an option for combination of both.
I've seen people that were book smart but had no clue about real life, regardless of the subject.

I've seen people that were street smart but really didn't have enough knowledge to really get ahead, no reasoning ability.

if by street smart you mean common sense, then that. I've known a lot of people were were book smart... but really really stupid when it came to common sense.

being booksmart is adventageous less often than being street smart IMO. Assuming street smart includes common sense.

Life, and intelligence, is a bit more complex than "street smart" or "book smart". I'm not that old but there are many different types of people in the world with many types of talents and short comings. For example one may be a math wizard and a street hustler at the same time.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that talent and genius take many different forms in many weird and different ways.
