Street Fighter vs Tekken

I really hope they don't make two separate versions (i.e. two separate games), but if they want to make two different "modes" that represent the different styles of game-play (move-based strategy and combo-based strategy) that are included in the same game, I'm all for it.

EDIT:

But that was a nice shot of cosplay Cammy's ass in the second video 😉.

Stupidest idea ever...Tekken is great because it's such a technical fighter with upteen hundred moves per character, it does it's thing well, SF does it's thing well, you don't need to combine them.

before i saw the video i facepalmed, after i watched it i'm hype for this now!

and Kabob, everyone in tekken has 89438943 moves, but you only really need 5 of them to do anything.

Inflated movelist. They add a lot of combos/chains to the movelist. Street Fighter doesn't do this but both games have a pretty huge number of possible attack combinations.

Too bad. Capcom is doing SF x Tekken with the SSFIV engine and Namco is doing Tekken x SF with the Tekken 6 engine.

This looks pretty sick. Gonna be some crazy combos. Ryu linked hp->hk. Wall bouncing, rolling wakeup into shoryuken.

I have a feeling the capcom developed version will sell great and the 3d namco version will sell crap.

Good god no. Tekken is much more 3D than SF is. I'm 100% sure they're going to keep it more SF like since it sells more and dumb down Tekken.

Didn't care for Streetfighter (on 360 that is) much but do enjoy Tekken.

I will look for this on the cheap side once it has been out for a while.

It looks great, but Namco vs Capcom would've made more sense because none of the Tekken characters have projectile attacks or specials.

I'm sure they came up with some for the game. I am looking forward to a SSFIV with a ton of new characters to learn. I hope this game is really balanced though.

well, I just read that a release date is estimated to still be 2 years away. So i guess we'll be enjoying these vids for awhile lol

OP you may want to edit the title, because it isnt called 'vs' ... its X which they are pronouncing as 'cross'

granted its the same shit, just didn't know if you knew that or not.

Sure feels like no one ever played Street Fighter EX... *sigh*

I played it and there's a reason why they never made a sequel for the newer gen consoles or used it in part 4. It wasn't that good as Street Fighter is a great 2D fighter and Tekken is a great 3D fighter. Changing either of them is going to suck.

looks like they translated some signature moves from tekken to the SF4 engine.
Kazuya's dash move can dodge projectiles it seems. i guess you need that for balancing issues.

i'll check it out. it'll feel more like learning new character in SF4 rather than a true crossover.

Actually they never made a sequel because Capcom doesn't own the copyrights to any of the EX characters so without the rights they have little room to work with . And a ton of people LOVE the EX series. Actually, the EX series characters were usually at the top of the list for most requested characters to be added in SF4/SSF4.

Capcom did make like 6 SF EX games (EX, EX plus, EX plus alpha, EX2, EX2 plus, EX3), the last one being EX3 for PS2 in 2000. That was about the time when the fighting game scene went dry and we didn't see anything until Street Fighter 4.

So many fighting games are coming out, kind of hard to decide what to get.

Hey, it is a lot better than getting 6 SFII games released 6 months apart of each other at full price. At least there is a large variety of fighting games that cater to all play styles rather than having to choose between which version of SFII you want to buy and keep.
