I've seen a ton of vids and stuff and I think it looks wonderful. I love all the little touches like funny facial expressions and the characters looks great. I'm sure SF purists are having a field day knocking everything about the game so far. Personally I think it looks great and I am confident Capcom will do the series justice. The two new characters do look very SNK-ish which is fine by me since I'm a SNK fan as well.

When SF4 was announced, I didn't even realize they had an SF3.
Shows how much into fighting games I am I guess... even though I had a lot of fun with DOA4, that fun lasted a week.

Can they just come out with the game already. Why the fvck does it take so long to come out with a 2D fighting game anyway?

It wasn't even announced that long ago. I doubt we'll see it soon.

It's supposed to be playable at GDC this week. I imagine we'll get a ton of new info and a release date.

Oh wow sweet. Hopefully they announce consoles. I assume since it is Capcom it will be all of them.

Yeah, I know XBLA for sure and I'm pretty sure it is coming to PSN as well.

I remember seeing the original 2.5D / 3D video with the Japanese artwork techniques and it looked really awesome. But what they are showing us now is nothing like that video and it doesn't look as cool. I'm not impressed with it. But I guess it is geared towards the fan base of the original games and I think they will enjoy that it is still 2d and similar to the other games.

Balancing in a 2D fighter is very hard and takes a long time to tweak. I made a custom batch of four Mugen characters and even with crude artwork it took me about six months to get everything to my liking. There are a lot of triggers to manage at a given time.

In addition to this, the SF franchise is extremely popular and it is the responsibility of Capcom to tournament players to make sure the game is balanced as close to perfectly as possible. This is a very important title for all the hardcore fighting fans.

I thought I read some where that they were having trouble getting the game to fit into the XBLA size requirements because of all the 1080p graphics. Could be wrong though.

you are probably thinking of the HD remix of SSF2T. that's going to be on PSN and XBLA.

sf4 is for sure going to be a full retail game.

it better be too cause i think the net library for full retail games is much better than the net library for XBLA games. the net code in SF:AC on regular xbox (full retail game) is 100x better than the net code on SF2 (xbla game).

I understand that, but seriously, the original characters are there. Ken, Ryu, Blanca, Dhalsim, etc. They have the same moves, with I'm sure a few little tweaks. They're not starting from scratch here. They did the same sh!t with SF3. Fvcking took FOREVER to come out with it after SF2. I'll buy the tweaking excuse for so long, but damn, Capcom missed the boat with the SF3 released. And how long has it been since SF3 until now, SF4?

Supposedly 360, PS3 and PC. Home versions haven't been officially confirmed yet but I think its a safe bet that it'll appear for all three.

These things just take time. Even if the original 12 world warriors are all represented there are still going to be a slew of new characters and thus the entire game has to be rebalanced. This doesn't even take into account the time and effort it takes to design and develop new characters (those already published are already undergoing revisions). This is also a 2.5D fighting game and it is a BITCH to code and balance collision detection to the level of accuracy found in the 2D Capcom fighters.

The game is coming out midway through this year in arcades so don't sweat it. I'd rather wait between drops than be smothered in sequels.

fighting games, especially street fighter have a very competitive aspect to them. i doubt it would translate well to the wii and the motion control scheme. even if they did figure out a way, it definitely would not catch on. of course they could always just make an arcade stick for the wii, then the only problem is the graphics capabilities maybe, oh and online play.

I really miss the original SF3. It has bad ass animation, but only like 6 playable characters. They took it out of the arcades and it turned into something else, which sucked from the original. I wish capcom would release it at some point untouched. :( I think they said they didnt have enough memory to fit more characters because of all the animation. So they dropped more frames to free up memory to add more characters.

The wiki i just read doesnt even mention anything about it!!!! If anyone else remembers this drop me a line. I know Im not crazy.

360's gamepad is horrible f9r fighting games but if you are serious about them you;d have a hori arcade stick or something similar anyways. I have the 360 hori stick and its fine.
