trying to make a relativly small os x tiger image to run on a number of machines.
i know i can get rid of languages...any other things like that which take up between 1 and 2 gigs and may be pretty useless.
(im using the image to run some educational 3rd party software, i-everything and word processing)

thanks.

only thing I can think of is what you already mentioned - the language remover (saves about a gig from what I've read)

Speaking of OS X 10.2, some things may have changed. In the Macintosh HD/Library folder:
- Preinstalled printer drivers: circa 489 MB
- Desktop pictures (wallpapers): 19 MB
- Asian Fonts: 49 MB
- Documentation: Alone the iMovie Help Files take away 60 Megs
- Modem scripts: A measly 2 MB, but the machines aren't going to use external accoustic modems, aren't they?

Not 1-2 GB of stuff but still six hundred something megs :)

i recently did a clean install for my office machine and decided i didnt need the printer drivers.
of course, the next day, i needed to hook a troublesome printer to it to test. i have no idea what the "printer drivers" on the os x cd actually do but not having them didnt keep me from running 3 different lexmarks and 2 different hps (network) from it.
so...if anyone else is looking to free up space, i suggest to install without printer drivers and, if you find simply plugging doesnt work, download only the specific driver you need.

edit: once everything i needed on the image was installed, i also ran a program called "Monolingual" which was helpful because it not only removed languages (although i didnt install them) but it would remove other keyboard layouts and well as languages that were automatically installed within individual programs.
which help free up about another gig.

i realize im answering a lot of my own questions...but if anyone else ever has the trouble, i thought it would be helpful.

Maybe you could gain some additional megabytes with Delocalizer. It seems to do the same thing as Monolingual but some user claims to have gained an impressive 1982 MB on a vanilla Tiger install.

TIGER not JAGUAR.

Tiger = v10.4
Jaguar = 10.2-10.3.9

This is a misunderstanding, I wanted to say that the megabyte numbers are from a Jaguar installation. I'm not a native english speaker, sorry.

And it's Cheetah-Puma-Jaguar-Panther-Tiger-Leopard :cool:
