Streaming Videos to my Xbox 360 through Windows XP in VMware

I know this is possible to do but will it cause my fans to go bonkers on my Macbook? I don't have VMware installed or Windows. I was thinking about building a media center PC but it just seems like a pain now (I already ordered the parts doh). I don't know if I can pull this off on my Macbook.

I want to put my 1.5 TB hard drive in an enclosure instead, connect it to my Macbook, mount the hard drive as a network drive and allow Windows Media Player to stream it to my 360. Has anyone done something like this?

Maybe building a media tower is a better idea.
