Streaming Live TV Options

I'm looking for some help on determining options for streaming live TV. I have DirectTV as my cable provider.

I've looked into some options from Five Best ways to Steam Live TV. I think either a Slingbox or a box from Vulkano should work for me. I'm open to other devices that would solve this problem.

I'm looking to opinions from some users of each device.

I want the device to be able to:
- stream HD, 1080 is ideal but 720 is fine
- stream to computer
- stream to iPad & iPhone
- ability to change the channel from the device receiving the stream

I'm considering the Slingbox 350, due that fact that I don't need wifi [house is wired for ethernet] and the possibility of all channels not working via HDMI. I'm concerning having to upload the stream to Slingbox's website for live streams. We will probably be using 10 down / .75 up DSL.

Any help is appreciated.

Well, on a 0.75 Mbps upload, this is only going to be useful inside your home. That just isn't enough bandwidth to do streaming outside the house.

Not sure what this means. AFAIK, Slingbox doesn't require you to send them the stream. EDIT: OK, this is an optional feature where you can watch through the website if you're on a computer where you can't install the Slingbox software.

I probably wouldn't use the external streaming option; just looking to stream on my internal network.

From what I read, the Slingbox 350 doesn't support Slingbox's desktop client; which made me assume that is has to work through the Slingbox website.

Huh. I'll have to look into it and see if it's local streaming.

Edit: It looks like it makes a local connection if you're on the same network, just facilitated by the slingbox.com interface. I'm not 100% on that, so I'd get it from somewhere with a good return policy :p
