Streaming data across Internet using UPnP using WMP11?

I am using Windows Media Player 11 to stream, "share", my media within my network. I want to see what the risk factor would be to open a port on my router and stream across the net. I dont think WMP 11 allows receiving of UPnP, just xmitting, correct?
