Hope this is the right forum. If it isn't please move.

Does anyone know how I can stream an MP3/Wave that is notcopyrighted (Seriously :) They are lecture lessons) on a server? I have a friend who has dialup and needs them but can't dl the 60MB+ file.

I guess I'm unsure of what you are looking for a solution for...but the Stream Down is really sweet. FYI, you can download a .wmv link file (I use getRight to grab the file off a server) and inside the tiny WMV link file is the actual URL for the real WMV stream. enter that into Stream Down and it'll rip it. :p I've learned A LOT of dirty tricks by trial and error and some tinkering...there's NOTHING you cannot get and capture with it. :)

It's not true streaming audio since it actually downloads the audio file but lets the 'receiver' listen to the file as it is being downloaded, but this page gives some fairly simple instructions on how to do it. And since they are just lecture recordings you should be able to rip them to very low bit rate (for easy download on his dial-up connection) and still sound decent. I have ripped lectures to 48kbps MP3s before and they sound almost the same as the original WAV files...

Edit: Forgot to include the link.
