Streaming asx files in linux

I heard that mplayer allows you to stream asx files. I went ahead and installed mplayer, but whenever I click on the link, a mplayer application appears but does not do anything. I downloaded the codecs avaiable, but do not know where to install it or how to configure mplayer to import it. Major help needed here. Any input is appreciated.

BTW, I use RH9

Nothinman: Ok, apparently the file format is not supported, but I downloaded the two codecs released by mplayer... now the questions is: where to put them?

The win32 codecs should go in /usr/lib/win32 I believe, I'm not 100% cause I let the Debian packages handle all that for me =)
