Hey, i was wondering if anyone knew about possibly streaming live tv (connected to a pc with MCE or some other variant) over a wired network to another computer in the house.

Would it even be possible, if yes, could you control the channels from the 2nd pc?

Thanks for any input

Unless your running Fiber on your network, there isn't enough bandwidth to really do this.

A few months ago I was trying to find away to do something simular instead of rewiring my new house to have cable TV in my room(I already had cat5 in my room) but it was not work that hardware investment.

I've had some success with using Orb (www.orb.com) which provides free software that you run on your MCE-connected computer. It basically sets up your main computer as a media server which you can access through the internet either via your home network or other network. The video quality isn't as good as the original, but it's actually quite good. It even lets you access your TV shows (and yes, you choose the channels), previously recorded content, music and documents from anywhere in the world.

I am/was able to stream live tv using SageTV running on my "Media PC" to my laptop running SageTV "Client" using a wireless B connection. It's doable.
