I have a satellite receiver upstairs and a small 27" tv.
In the living room we have a larger tv we use for movies.


I would like to hook up a device to play movies off a file share. I am wondering if anyone makes one that is capable of playing HD? I used to have a media center pc connected but want something less complex.

I am also looking to place shift my satellite tv to my laptop that I might have in my room or wherever. I looked at the slingbox and the sony locationfree. I don't need anything to control the tv/receiver. Does anyone make a cheaper dumb box that just converts rca/svideo into an video stream?
