It's not meaningless.

For the intent of getting into shape, it is. Watching weight alone leads people to become distracted when they gain muscle mass, and do not lose weight, yet lose fat.

I'll vouch for this one. When I started working out years ago, I watched my weight drop for quite a while after I started; after that it actually climbed above what I had started at. But I was still wearing smaller clothes than when I started, so it didn't bother me 🙂

yeah, they said it was really good that I even lost any weight. First things first is to build muscle mass... I probably lost a heck of a lot more than 3lbs if you dont account for the gain that happens when your muscles expand. But 3lbs is better than gaining 🙂

Yup. I have an extremely hard time convincing women of this because some of them care more about the number on the scale than anything else, but it's true.

Congratulations TT! I'd like to get back to the gym but I never seem to have the time 🙁 and I cant stand spending the money on it... I was thinking on getting a bowflex so I could just hop in my basement and get a workout in whenever I'm home.

yeah i know how memberships are expensive... I think the thing that really drove me to sign up is that they offer cancellation of membership.. all I have to do is give them a written 30 day notice and $30 fee to cancel.. So thats definitely well worth.. plus its only $40 a month.

I've been working out/running/excersizing 3 times a week. In the past 3 months I've lost 5 inches around the waist (down to a 32) and gained like 20lb's or so (205lbs)
