Stray cat story (long)

For a couple of weeks now we have been seeing 2 small kittens out under our yard light at night catching bugs and eating them. Their mother was jet black cat with green eyes and VERY wild. We had not seen her for several weeks. We decided to feed them thinking something had happened to her and after a week or so of doing this we set a trap and caught one last night and the other one tonight.
We put the second one in our basement bathroom with the other and after getting things situated I went to go upstairs and dont know what made me do it but I walked out to the door and looked out and there the mother was, setting on the sidewalk staring right at me!!!! Arg! Black cat glaring you at 1 AM in the morning.....Not good!

Almost as if to let me know that she knew we had her kittens!

Now what to do, give them back? Or keep them and risk being cursed??? We want to give them back now that we know she is still alive but with some of the neighbors we have they probably wont make it very long, or will end up hit on the road...

If you are going to take care of them then keep them. They won't be skittish if they are raised with humans.

If you're looking for a couple of cats, keep them. Otherwise, let them free to be with their mom, and let nature take its course with 'em.

The cats are feral, so you should give them back to the mother. They won't be able to be properly house broken due to their feral nature.

Keep them, raise them. Try to trap the mother and get her spayed. If she is truly feral, release her after spaying. Keep all of them away from any other animals you might have until tested for FIV, FIP, and they get their shots.

That is absolute nonsense. If you plan on giving them a home take them to your vet and get them checked over and get them properly vacinated. Also you will need to keep an eye open for any signs they have worms. Other than that you should be able to socialize them just fine.

Well, we decided to give them back. It was pretty tough on our 4 year old but we thought it was best. Will have to see if they come up to the house to be fed each night now that we traumatized them the way we did...If nothing else they might stay around and become "outside cats" and get more used to us as time goes by.

Bad thing about that is then you get 2 cats then 4 cats then 8 cats Etc...

I know locally we have several orgs that catch and release ferals and spay/neuter them. probably could have gotten the kittens fixed to make sure no more would be coming
