I couldn't resist...for some stupid reason I actually went into one of the "prove evolution to me" threads (evolution is a fact by the way, if you don't like it, too bad, try reading a book or two on the subject, or go to the zoo and see for yourself), and I, amazingly, agree with most of what Moon-boy says...but then he has to go and use the word "stratigraphic", which makes him look like a complete 4ss all over again..

just when he gains some tiny modicum of respect (how is that for a big word Moonie? - modicum, not respect), he blows it by using a word that I have never even heard before, and I seriously doubt it has ever been used in actual speech by anyone in the last 10 years....

I just had to say something!

If it was used in context, I don't see what's wrong with using a word that's not common vernacular.
Just because someone uses words not in your normal vocabulary doesn't invalidate their opinion or make them somehow less deserving of respect.

And couldn't this stay in that thread or PM'd to Moonbeam? Threads which are personal attacks on other members are not only subject to locking, but are really childish to boot.

Quoth the Lunar Ray:
Those who think, then, that the written Bible could possibly refute Gods own creation, are self deceived fools. God wrote the truth in stone, not on paper. His clay tablets, the stratigraphic record, are there for everybody to see.

There is no more appropriate use for this word than in this sentence. It's referring to layering of strata, or sediment deposits. I knew what it meant from geology, and yes, I've heard it used within the past 10 years, a couple times, in fact.
