On AMC right now.....the movie isn't really that great, but the B-36 footage is excellent! What a monster of an airplane 😕

When my Dad was in the USAF he was stationed at a base for a while that had the first deployment of B-36's to come into active duty. He said when they would take off it would rattle the buildings and break windows all over the base and that after about 3 weeks of this happening every day they finally replaced all the glass in the buildings within 1000 yards of the airfield with a plexiglass type of material. He said the windows would still shake and rattle like crazy but that they never broke again. He also said that the morning flight going out before dawn was all you needed for a wake up call since you couldn't easily stay in your bunk when they were rolling down the runway.
