Hey guys, I am hoping someone has heard or seen anything like this since I am going nuts!:|:|:|

Basically I have sound from my card however the creative control panel is not working properly. This just happened randomly this evening out of nowhere so it is kind of weird. In the Creative Sound Blaster Z control panel I should have several tabs of options to choose from to customize my sound. (SBX Pro Studio, Crystallizer, Scout mode, Profiles) and so on. They are no longer available to choose from and the only Tab I get is a Cinematic tab which allow me to add either Dolby live or DTS.

Attempted Fixes:

Uninstalled with Revo Driver and also tried cleaning with Driver Sweeper.
Tried CD Drivers Again (still the panel won't give me the tabs it use to)
Tried an older Driver (still not working)
Removed sound card from PCI-E slot and re-installed card and re-installed drivers. (my tabs are still not there, no audio options except CINEMATICS

Basically I lost all my sound options, and this card serve me no use without these options/tabs to choose from.

System has no viruses/Trojans
No hardware changes since last build (slightly 3 months old)

EXTREMLY ANNOYED BY THIS BUG. If this is creative software problem, it should not be mine and everything should work as advertised.

Also keep in mind that I still do get sound from my speakers, I however no control over my sound settings and this control panel is not working

System

Intel I7 3770k
16gb Kingston ddr3 value
MSI GTX 580
Corsair 850watt PSU
Windows 8 64bit home
Crucial M4 128gb SSD

Thanks for any feedback or help anyone!

I got this card and have a few friends who have this card. Have not heard of this problem though.

I have a feeling something changed on your system that you are not aware of. Usually re-installing fixes this, but you said you already tried it so maybe its something not having to do with the SB drivers and software. Have you tried using system restore. I have used that a lot to fix various driver problems. This way you can figure out what it was that was installed to "break" the control panel.

Thanks MrWizzard I may try that, however now that I think of it something did change. Last night I installed XBMC and I wonder if that could have broke the control panel, although I don't see how that is possible. Also I want to use XBMC because It is incredible, I wonder.....either way I am going crazy with this problem man

I'm having the same exact problem you described although I just installed the card. Did you ever fix this issue?

Note: We have no overlapping hardware judging by your System spec except for the PSU.

Hi Ferazzz

I also just got this problem. Pissed me off wasted a lot of time and then found the answer. Its not creative problem. But AMDs you must have radeon.. The HDMI audio out conflicts with this. So cant say for sure whos at fault. all you need to do is disable HDMI audio out on your playback devises.

For noobs :)
1)right click on your speaker icon on your task bar.
2) there it will show your option some are hidden so you need to right click on the white blank area with in the box displaying options.
3) then make sure that "show disabled devises" and " show disconnected devices" are checked.
4) now your HDMI output options will show up.
5) right click on each one and select disable
6) you should be good now
6.1) I had my Creative audio control; panel off when doing this(don't think it matters).

I thought to my self it was a windows update or conflict as I haven't changed anything. I even haven't updated AMD drivers for a year or more.
Also I do use a TV but never use HDMI audo, but use HDMI for video. so maybe on bootups it gets selected then reverts to SoundBlaster Z. That's my theory.

I searched online and found this to not only correct my problem, but to confirm what I suspected. Thx comeradealexi if you are reading this.

Reviving this to state that the fix posted above still works.

I just got this bug out of the blue the other night and it was driving me crazy. I could not see the other tabs and so could not switch to headphones.

Disabling the HDMI that I don't use anyway did the trick!

On Win 7 64
