Stranglehold

Anyone play Stranglehold yet? Looks cool but I hear its short, like 6-7 hours. It has MP but it doesn't seem like many people are playing it.

Knowing that, I may have to wait for it to come down a bit. $50 is too much for only 6-7 hours.

It's an awesome game, but quite short. I finished it in about 7 hours, and have so far beat it twice, if you have a console, it's worth a rent.

Stranglehold Download Recommended System Requirements

Windows XP SP2, Windows Vista
Dual Core Processor
2.0 GB RAM
15.0 GB free hard disk space (Stranglehold requires 50GB of free hard disk space during the installation process but, once installed, the setup files can be removed or stored elsewhere. If installing to a secondary drive, your system's primary drive requires 20GB of free hard disk space during the installation process.) NVIDIA GeForce 7800 or higher, ATI X1600 or higher
DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card

DirectX 9.0c (included)
Broadband Internet connection required for online play

holy shit!

to get it from D2D it's 12 GB!!

I was tempted to get the PS3 collector's edition since it includes a 1080p blu-ray version of Hard Boiled.

Based on the reviews I'll just rent the game and watch my Criterion 480i DVD of the movie again instead. Great movie, but not quite $70 great for me 🙂

I didn't like this game, reviews are pretty ho-hum as well. I tried it out before I bought it and glad I did, saved me some money.

didn't know there was a demo. will try that out first.

no demo that I found, but I played it at local Gamestop on their 360 demo machine. Didn't like the game very much.

edit: ahh yes I should have searched further... demo is available. found it on fileplanet *slaps self*

I played it a few hours today. It's a fun mindless shooter. Graphics are hit or miss but some sequences are quite impressive.

Performance wise it runs perfectly fine at 1366x768 maxed on a 4800 X2 and a X1900XTX.

But they completely messed up the port as far as menu's and options go.

Edit: Install worked fine with only 17 GB free.

I was really looking forward to this game, but after trying the demo I think I'll wait till it's less than $5 on gogamer.com
I also didn't realize that it was going to be a port. After Bioshock I'm weary of ports.

The graphics plus the breakable objects were impressive' UE3 looks good. The controls were hard for me to get used to on PS3.
I may wait for a discounted collectors editions.

I know you're not the one who wrote the above, but it's incorrect. I installed Stranglehold on my secondary drive which has 100+GB free space, and my C: drive is about 10GB, 7 of which are used. It installed and ran no problem, you don't need to have 20gb on your primary drive to install it.

i played the demo and this game sucks!

it's extremly linear, combat is boring, the special things you can do like sliding across tables is extremely frequent and you really can't control when you actually do it - it's also very blah and boring and just feels gimmicky and doesn't seem to help at all.

the demo was very limted in options also. you could only change the controls...no video or sound options.

I finished up the 360 version and liked the game. Looks good enough though some textures are terribly low res and the combat is good fun. My only real beef with the game is how close you are to Tequila. They should have zoomed it out a bit. I paid 30 bucks and its worth that but I wouldn't pay 50+ for it. The game is also very short.

I guess this is as close to a Max Payne 3 as we'll get since Remedy is too busy with Alan Wake though this game is not as good as any of the Payne games in my opinion. I would welcome a sequel.

sorry to bump an old thread but.... why does this game take almost 13 gigs? The graphics are very nice, the cut scenes look great but they look to be rendering using the game engine. No FMV and short game should be much smaller. I like the game, but I'm amazed at how many gigs this sucker takes.
