The night that lady Di died, My friend had come from atlanta to visit family in south florida, so my sister and I decided to hang out with our friend in south beach. We got to south beach, and since we couldnt find parking space, I decided to drop off my sister and my friend at some restaurant, and I would go park the car and come back to meet them there.
I went to park the car, and as I crossed collins avenue to get to A1A, this tall, skinny, older black man approaches me, and in some type of undescribable british accent (perhaps jamaican, trinidadian---not sure) tells me, "sir, sir i need to get to the airport and I'm trying to find a ride there. If you take me to the airport i will pay..." So i cut off the guy and tell the guy to get a cab but the guy tells me something to the effect that he left his luggage in one of those lockers at the miami airport and he had another luggage that some taxi driver had run off with, and therefore he didnt want to get a cab.
So the guys pulls a roll of 100 dollar bills( a very thick roll indeed) and tells me he will pay me well, if i take him to the airport. Now, at that time i had recently graduated from college and i was broke as hell, and lookign for a job, so when i saw the roll of 100 dollar bills i was like, wow 'easy money'. But at the same time i had this bad feeling that if i went, i would never be seen again.
Now this is taking place in the sidewalk, there are other people walking around me and on that road i'm walking is getting darker and less people walking so i stopped turned back to where people are, and the guy keeps walking next to me, telling me the same story of the airport and the luggage and tries to put money in my hand; across the street i spot a cop and i say, let's go to the cop and he can help you; as soon as i say that, a white guy approaches us and as he gets in front of me blocking my walking area, the black guy tells the white guy..."sir, sir---i'm trying to get to the airport blah blah blah." as that is going on i'm trying to split betwheen the two guys but the white guy blocks me and tells me something to the effect, " i'm new in town too---dont know where the aiport is---i can give him a ride but you can tell us where the airport is if you ride with us and we'll split the money....."
At the time, i'm only thinking i need to get to that cop pronto, before i dissapear from planet earth!!! And b/c these guys are blcoking me as i try to walk i decided to yell "police officer, police officer!!" Next thing i know the white guy split to the left , the black guy went to the right in a dark alley and I couldnt see any of them. Of course, the cop didnt hear me b/c of the traffic but man that was a close call.....Til this day i remember those two guys clearly and wonder if it happened to anybody else!!!
I'm sure that's how people dissappear in hte usa!!!!
