Strangest Problem Ever

Alright, my computer has been doin some wierd stuff. I had it unplugged/unused for 2 weeks when I was fixing up my room (carpet/paint). I turned it on for the first time since on Wednesday, where it proceeded to post, the ata66 controller found the hd, and it hung. Did this a few times, I played with bios settings, etc. Nothing. So then I unplugged all the drives except for the hd and it booted. So then I plugged the drives back in and it booted. No problem, right? Wrong! Yesterday, Thursday, it did the same thing again, until I unplugged the drives. Then it would boot. I'm sick of these bs problems with my computer. Any ideas?

Sounds like a power supply issue.

Power supply issues I have had in the past. New case threw a computer together. It boots up, installs, everything is running. I power it down, move it to another room, plug it in, and couldn't get it to boot with everything plugged in. Bought a new antec trupower PS and now it works wonderfully.

So even though a power supply may work at one point in time, when you power it off and it has to try and spin everything up again, it may not be able to handle the work. Especially if you were close to it's limit.

Looking at your systems description it would seem that that powersupply should be able to handle the load.

One other thing I would do is try to back down your overclocking a bit and see if that helps. Over time things could have become more sensitive to that.

EDIT:threw/through phonetically speaking I was correct...

btw, nutbucket

about your quote: Los Angeles Lakers: 3 Time Defending World Champions

it's only 2 times defending world champions until next year if lakers still go to the final...which i hope they do...but it's 3 times world champions (USA)

Well, if you have to be picky about it 😛. Anyway, I did try it yesterday @566 with similar results. I have a trust backup PS that I'll try. All I know is, I've had terrible luck with BX boards.

Wait, it is 3 time defending world champs b/c they have to defend their championship next season. Doesn't matter if they make it to the finals or not.
