OK, this may be common but it's the first time I encountered it (been throwing together pcs since 100Mb Hard drives were hot). Got a 939 board (Mach Speed Viper 939 AGP) that worked very well EXCEPT that shutting down XP settled down to where I got the archaic screen that said: it's OK now to turn off your computer! Tried everything--format /reinstall XP, poke around BIOS,clear CMOS, swap hard drives, memory etc. XP just did not auto shut off.
I put the Mach on the side and ordered an Asrock and stuck in a CPU and everythings back to reality. So before I return the weirdo to the egg, I thought I consult the Mighty Anand Geek Squad.
