Okay this is a jetway kt266a board. Has been just serviced and a MOSFET replaced.

The boad POSTs then the machine goes into standby, then booting continues only if we press a key or something..

Nothing in the BIOS, nothing in jumper settings either.

Any body any idea...?

All help appreciated

Sounds pretty strange, I know a lot of older machines (hadn't heard this in a while) used to ask for a key when they found a problem, such as keyboard error or something such as that, where exactly does it stop and wait for user intervention? what OS are you running?

check the front panel connectors, and make sure they are all connected properly. I had a suspend switch connected improperly, which did this.

Welcome to the Forums cloud9ineteen :) If the other tips don't get it fixed, also check whether it persists if you don't have the Power button connected to the motherboard. Instead of using the Power button, try making a momentary electrical connection between the Power Button pins on the motherboard and see if it runs and doesn't do the Standby trick.

If that helps, then I'd suspect there's something fishy about the power button, mechanically/electrically.

Bigger picture: you might consider replacing the whole motherboard if it gets to be too much of a nuisance. Also, could the power supply be having a problem? How old is it, what brand/model/wattage, and what hardware is it supporting?

Thanks everyone..

As a matter of fact, I know the case headers are connected wrong. I managed to correct some, but still some are wrong. i.e. the power and hdd leds are staying lit.

This friend of mine who owns this has lost the manual..so i'm downloading it off jetway's site and getting that part printed for him.

I'll let u all know how it works out..

By the way, thanks for the welcome..tho i've been here quite some time..lost my password..so made a new account
