Hi there

I have got an IBM Thinkpad x31 laptop with inbuilt a/b/g wlan adapter based on a atheros chipset. I have got WinXP SP2 and all the newest updates and drivers/bios installed. I do not use IBM access connections.

I have 2 strange problems since I first used the computer.

Sometimes I can not obtain a TCP/Ip adress. I can see the network under Availlable Networks and I am asked to type in WEP/WAP passwords when I try to log in but then he tries and tries and doesn't get an IP adress. Sometimes it works just fine sometimes it helps to type in a static IP (non dhcp)

Right now I have got a router where nothing helps even if I type in a static IP I cannot receive data.

Sometimes it just works ok and then after a sudden the internet connection breaks down and I dont receive data anymore. The tray icon still tells me that it is connected and everything is ok. Then if I try to search for WLAN networks it doesnt find the network anymore at all !!!!

I can the go into standby mode and wake up again and the everything works fine again for some minutes.

I tried a lot of access points and I allays have some problems. SOmetimes i could solve it with turning WEP off and dhcp off and use static IPs but that still sucks!

Do you have any ideas? I couldnt google up similar problems with that card with other users...

thx a lot!
