I have Windows XP SP2. Here is the error I get.

Title of window
16 bit Windows Subsystem

Message
C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt. The systemfile is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

Close or Ignore

I get this and other strange errors. Last night I was trying to get rid of a bunch of adware and spyware on my system. After I did, after 5 or 10 minutes, the computer would stop connecting to the internet over Explorer, telnet, email or icq. I use cable and the modem and router were fine for the other computers on the network.

Also, for icq, its title screen after I log on the the computer no longer comes up either. Anyone have an idea or any help on what I can do to get my system stable again?

You have a nasty process (virus or malware) attempting to use itself in an unsupported DOS environment. Run antivirus software and clean it up.

Thanks for the help. The Iamnotageek website helped alot. I seem to be doing alot better, but I suspect that Java is still having some problems. Here's what is going on.

First, when ICQ loads up, the title page does not load and when I try to force it in ICQ the "Welcome to ICQ" option. The window loads up, but nothing is in it.
Second, some websites which use JAVA will not load instead loading a message "The page cannot be displayed".
Third, when I go to the Sun Java site to verify my installation, it says it can't. I downloaded manually the java software, but when I run it, it says that java is already on the computer.

Should I just remove java and reinstal or do I have some other problem? I ran microsoft's spyware software (which did annoy me by changing my home web page) and got a bunch of stuff off. Also, I ran Norton AntiVirus and removed something that was like ICAN something. Any thoughts?
