I have a strange problem accessing pages on the net. I experienced a slowdown on my machine so i checked for viruses. norton found none and i could not access norton's sight for updated signatures. same with mcafee. when i scanned with nod32 it found a few trojan downloader worms. yet i can still not reach symantec or mcafee webpages. any other pages i can go to. i hooked my cable modem to my other computer and it connects to those pages just fine. i tried disabling my firewall too and that did not help. i am running xp on my main computer and 98se on my other computer. it seems as if there's a virus or some sort of spyware that won't let me access those pages on my main machine. i ran adaware as well and still cannot access them. any help would be much appreciated! thank you.

Problem solved. Ran nod32 with a deep scan and scan all files. Two viruses were found and cleaned. After they were cleaned I can now go to symantec and mcafee webpages. I guess virus makers have now developed the ability to keep you out of the pages that could destroy there viruses. Be on the lookout as my only clue to a virus being there was a slowdown. When i checked my resources memory usage was high. I have 512m and didn't have much running at the time. Note: Norton system protector runs on my machine constantly and is updated. Yet it did not catch these viruses. The only scanner i have that did is NOD32. I would highly reccommend downloading this great scanner.
