Alright, here's the problem...I installed Return to Castle Wolfenstein, began to play a game...switched resolutions to 1024x768, and the picture was ofset on my monitor. So...I then switched to to 1600x1200 (what I normally play the Multiplayer Test at), and bam...all I can see is the top left corner of the picture. I quit the game by ctrl-alt-del hitting right arrow 4 times and getting to the task manager...because I couldn't see anything. When I restarted, the damn game started that way...so I decided to uninstall, then reinstall...and it gives me the same problem before I even change the resolution. BTW, I'm running Win2k.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on here...?

I have a buddy who had the same problem. It all boiled down to lack of driver support for Direct-X 8.0 . He messed around with it for a week swapping drivers, reinstalling different Operating Systems with no luck. He finally took my advice and bought a Geforce 3 Ti200 video card and the game runs flawless now.

I hate to say it but I think you are in the same boat.

<< Then why in god's name does the Multiplayer Test run fine? >>

Good question...

Maybe the multiplayer test doesn't have a full implamentation of DX8 or something

BTW I have this same problem with the Dronez benchmark, so I guess ausm is right =\.

Is there a -window switch that you can use to lauch wolf?

ie:

c:\wolfinstalldir\wolf.exe -window
or
c:\wolfinstalldir\wolf.exe -windowed

If so you could run in windowed mode (not fullscreen) and reset things to the setting where they actually worked.

I jus tried it both ways, and neither ran in a window...so I guess it didn't work. Also, there is a WickedGL swap file in my wolfenstein dir, wtf is that...and could it be screwing things up?

Try using /? or -? from the commandline to see what commandline switches wolfenstein accepts. I don't know what the actualy executable is called but:

c:\wolfinstalldir\wolf.exe -?
or
c:\wolfinstalldir\wolf.exe -help
or
c:\wolfinstalldir\wolf.exe -h
(also try / instead of - )

Try removing the swap file and see if that helps. It likely can't hurt.

The game has a safe mode. Check your wolf folder on the programs menu. That might get you back going

There is a known issue concerning Voodoo5 and resolutions over 800x600, it maybe what you are experiencing.

I use the wickedl drivers from wicked3d with my voodoo 5 5000. Much better than default ones. The defaults had holes and were really slow on mine. Prob fix your problem too.
