Strange things happening in gameplay

Here's the deal, i can play UT 2k4 with no hitch whatsoever. But for some reason, both Counterstrike Source and HL2 come up as slide shows whenever i play them. The audio is choppy as well. This has never happened before with my current video card (Nvidia 6800)

Any solutions?

Update DX9 and NForce driver. 91.47 works great for me.

Delete all the temp and temp internet files. Free IE Privacy Keeper does a great job.

Defragment your Hard Drive, and increase the Swap File size to 1.5x of your RAM.

If that does not work, upgrade your Video Card. Perhaps the newest Steam updates killed the otherwise satisfactory performance of your machine.

It's odd, just the opposite for me. I can play HL2 DM and Counterstrike on my meager little card. But on UT2K4 the game is nothing but choppy with horribly crackly audio quality.

Still fun as hell though. Just can't play anything but friendly LAN games since I can't do anything on online with my horrible frame rates.
