Strange things happening in gameplay

Here's the deal, i can play UT 2k4 with no hitch whatsoever. But for some reason, both Counterstrike Source and HL2 come up as slide shows whenever i play them. The audio is choppy as well. This has never happened before with my current video card (Nvidia 6800)

Any solutions?

Update the DX9, reinstall NForce drivers. 91.47 works best for me.

Clean your temp and other junk files (IE Privacy Keeper does the job perfectly).

Defrag your HD, increase the size of Swap File to 1.5 x of your RAM.

If that doesn't work - upgrade your VC. 6800 is really "old' by todays standards, and the newest Steam updates might have killed otherwise satisfactory performance.
