Strange thing happened since I installed IE7

My cookies folders, temporary internet files and index.dats seem to have moved from their usual location and I cannot locate them. Anyone knows if that is the case and where they went?

OK. Found the explanation at the BBR forums.
So, I opened up windows explorer, and browsed out to C:\Documents and settings\profilename\local settings.

I noticed that the only 2 folders I see are Temp and Application Data. I no longer see the folders for History, and Temporary Internet Files.

I then go into the folder options, and uncheck the box for "Hide Protected operating system files (Recommended), and poof! The History Folder and the Temporary Internet Files folder show up again.

Any idea why Microsoft made these "Protected operating system files" under IE7?

Maybe they thought this would make it harder for malware to use them , however index.dat suite still finds them quickly so I suppose spyware would too.

I think those folders were always marked as system folders. The MS install probably flipped the hide bit back on for some reason, or it installed the folders with the hide bit on for just their contents.

Hi John! 😎

One thing I found out, if you want to access the help screens in IE7, better disable internet acceleration in Dowload Accelerator or IE will crash. That will probably be addressed in a DA update.
