Strange Test Results on New Power Supply

Strange Test Results on New Power Supply:

Tested a power supply for a friend using a Powmax/Leadman power supply tester. My friend said that this new power supply, a Starlogic 500watt smoked a mobo.

I have used tester before and whenever a PS is good all the lights come on green and a short beep is heard. When I plug the tester into this Starlogic PS all the lights come on green but a constant beep is heard. The beep stays on till the tester is unplugged.

What does this mean? Pretty sure PS is bad but would like to know if PS could damage a mobo.

I've never seen a PSU tester. Where did you get it? But yeah, a malfunctioning PSU can damage a MOBO easy, and in a lot of different ways.

SVC has them on sale right now. Looks similar except mine is supposed to have a short beep when plugged in.

Newegg also has them. The one I have is the Powmax, which is OOS.
