Hi all,

I have visited this forum a few times before but this is my first time posting. I recently came upon a very strange problem with a color laser printer that I was hoping someone can help me out with.

I just bought a Samsung CLX-3185 multifunction color laser printer and when I printed a few test pages, I noticed 2 slight horizontal streaks (one near the top on the left side of the paper and one near the middle of the page also on the left side). I first though that I may have a defective toner cartridge so I tried to print in color and saw the horizontal streaks appear in the same area. However, this time, there are 4 streaks: magenta, blue, yellow, and black.

This made me suspect the drum was having an issue so I decided to print a blank page. However, the same streaks occurred!

I took the toner cartridge as well as the drum out and inspected them while making sure I do not touch anything. I did not see anything wrong with them and they seem to be all clean. It seems strange to me that the streaks occurred even when I print a blank document. Secondly, when I print a document that involve the use of all the color (say, print abcd in magenta, blue, yellow. and black), I see a 4 evenly spaced streaks with each of the colors.

Has anyone seen something similar before? Can you please help? I really hope it is not a defective unit that I need to return...

Thanks,
- mpd

If your printer is brand new, the first places look for help would be the manufacturer and vendor. If they can't give you an instant fix for the problem, return it for a unit that works correctly. That's what you paid for, and that's what you should get.

Good luck. :)

Echo what Harvey said. Such streaks usually indicate a dirty fuser roller. That is common to all colors.
