I just got my G400 two weeks ago, so I hope it isn't dying. :(

Basically anywhere there is a vertical change between light and dark colors the screen looks like rippling water. Any idea what this is an if it's normal? I just noticed it a few days ago, so I doubt it's been happening the whole time I've had the monitor. I'm running 1600x1200 at 85 Hz on a V3 3000 PCI. Thanks for the help!

I don't know whether or not this has any effect on the problem you're having, but a refresh rate of 85Hz seems a little high to me at that resolution, especially with a Voodoo3. My Ti4400 can only do 75Hz at 1600x1200.

btw, I have the same monitor :)

I too have a G400 that's been exhibiting "weird" behavior lately. It looks like it degausses itself periodically... This is the 5th thread I've read on someone's G400 dying in the past week. Hmm.

You won't believe this...but I actually fixed the problem by smacking the side of the monitor. :Q:D

85 Hz does seem a bit high, but it's within spec for the monitor. The G400 will supposedly even run 1800x1440 at 70 Hz.

The Voodoo3 has a pretty good RAMDAC. According to the box it will do 1600x1200 at 100 Hz! :Q

Interesting, it's doing it again, and smacking the monitor isn't working. :(
