Strange Quicktime Problem

This one has me stumped. I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

I reformated my computer and installed the latest 4in1's and AMD patches. I have all the updates and went to install quicktime. I install it but it does not work in IE for some reason. I downloaded Netscape 6 and put the plugins into the plugin folder and it worked fine. But not in IE. I then upgraded to IE6 thinking that might do something, but no. I just get that icon in the area of the movie that you get when something isn't installed correctly or at all on your computer.

I have re-installed IE and Quicktime multiple times and it still does not work. Any ideas?

There is a known problem right now with IE 5.5 SP2(and probably later - IE6) and Quicktime 5. It apparently stems from MS pulling plugin support and forcing ActiveX down everyone's throat. Official word is that MS is working with Apple to fix the problem.

and me too, thought I was going bonkers, I uninstalled/reinstalled QT5 4 times before stumbling on this, sodding thing also buggered up my mpeg playback too. 🙁
