Strange question: I have a Vista license, where can I get the media?

We're trying to get a couple copies of Vista at work through CDW. The rep says he can sell us the license but the media won't be available until January when it's officially released!! :disgust:

Anyone know where I can get a legit copy of the media?

Thanks!

MSDN, VL or some other arrangement with MS.

To get the media for those CDW keys you'll need to wait until January when it's officially released.

Do you mean if I get the media from MSDN, VL or other source that my key won't work?

Thanks.

I installed from MSDN media and it prompted me for keys.

MSDN requires a subscription ($$) and the software you download from there is for testing only, it cannot be used in a production environment.

Supposedly, you can buy Vista volume licenses in five-license minimum from the Microsoft Small Business Value Program. CompUSA made a big deal about selling these licenses. I imagine they must have media, too.......
Microsoft Teams with CompUSA to Deliver Vista Business

As far as I know, you can't get the Retail and Generic OEM media until January. I see that CDW says "Call" on all their Volume License Vista media.

So to help this guy out, he basically has to wait until January to get the media? is that January 31 for the full retail release? Is he going to have to buy a non-VLK version to get the media?

Why would Microsoft ship to 'big business' and only sell them licenses and no media? What the hell are we supposed to do with license keys?

I have an even better question; Why would anybody buy a license key without the media? Why would they even sell the license key without the media.

Volume Licensing. I had a license for Vista Enterprise about 3 weeks ago now. I didn't have the media.

If you have an MVLS license for Vista, and need to obtain the media, go to http://licensing.microsoft.com.

If you have an OpenLicense, go to https://eopen.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

If you have an MSDN License, go to http://msdn.microsoft.com

If you have a retail or OEM license... well, you should have received media with it. If not, you've been scammed.

You CAN use the media for production, just not the keys. We use our MSDN media to install using our valid, Open license keys, and some of our action pack stuff too.

Hmmm...I wonder if ANYBODY actually has Vista Volume License Media yet? Seems like several folks in these Forums have complained about a lack of media.

I'm pretty sure volume licensed media and MSDN licensed media are integrated. We have a volume license account, and when we log in to download media or claim keys it is from the MSDN subscriber downloads site.
