strange prompts during boot up...

during boot up i get these prompts:

"Initializing MBA...Press CTRL+ALT+B..."

and

"Press N to Boot Fom Network"

these prompts have always appeared and take a couple seconds to get past them, so i always just ignore them to let the computer load to Windows.
but i was just curious as to what they mean.

are they necessary?
if not, is there a way to disable them to speed up my boot-up time?

are you using a 3com network card ?

deja.com shows the following information:

1. Install 3com diagnostics
2. Disable the Boot Rom.

Good luck.
