Strange problems

I have two problems which are not related:

1) When I boot up my computer, the mobo voice occasionally says "system failed due to CPU overclocking"....the strange thing is that my CPU is NOT overclocked, and hasn't been AFAIK. I have an a7n8x-e deluxe and I don't know if it's just a bug, because EVERY time it has said this, it boots into Windows like normal with no instabilities.

2) I recently installed a new HDD and now it seems that my speakers are not connecting to my computer. I hooked the speakers up to my mp3 player to make sure that they weren't fried--and they aren't. I don't really know what the deal is because I can hear the mobo voice before it boots into windows (either telling me the system failed thing, or POST completed thing) but after I am in windows, they are silent. I have no idea if the HDD installation somehow did something. I am unsure how to troubleshoot this one.

Thanks

Heh... alright...

Did your computer always talk to you when it booted? 😕

When you say you added a new harddrive... does that mean you added a new storage drive, or is your primary drive and you reinstalled windows on it and are booting to it?

If the voice thing isn't a nifty feature you got from something, it's probably some malware. Do you have adaware or some other spyware removal tool thing? Maybe it's something it could get rid of...

🙂 Yes the computer has always talked to me and it has always *occasionally* said the thing about the system failing, but it almost always only says "system completed POST, computer now booting from OS" and then it boots and works fine either way.
The harddrive I added was a storage drive (I am going to install Linux). I am still booting from my older Windows drive.
The voice thing is a feature of my mobo, actually, and I don't mind it....it's just weird. Thanks for the reply! Any ideas on the speaker issue?

Ok before you do anything try unplugging the front audio connectors (the ones that allow you to plug mics/speakers into the front of your case) from the motherboard. Do you use a soundcard?

I've never heard of a mobo voice, is it a male or female voice, does it have an accent?

It's a girl, no accent, and, no, she doesn't sound hot 😛

Oh and my case doesn't have front audio hookups

I am using the on-board sound from my asus a7n8x-e deluxe

? Anyone? Can the audio ports on my mobo just go bad all of a sudden without anything else being affected? Any good way to check this?
