My radeon 8500 is about a year old, and i havent had any problems with it up until i did my most recent reformat/reinstall of windows 2k. i have all the latest drivers for it, latest directx, etc.
however, now whenever i play games (ive noticed it with both half-life and dungeon siege so far), after a random amount of time, the screen will flash black, then freeze with a bunch of vertical lines on the top. when i reset, sometimes as its reloading windows, the bios screen gets all distorted. it sounds like a heat issue, but why would it start just after my most recent reformat?
any help here?
p.s. i noticed also, in the "smartgart" section of ati control panel, that AGP speed is set to off, and so is fast writes. changing these settings and rebooting doesn't do anything, as they go back to the way they were.
