Strange problem with shared folders in XP

I have a few computers on a router that share folders and printers.

On the boxes running XP I have found a strange bug.

If I double click on My Network Places I see all the shared folders in my network there, including the shared folder of the machine I'm using. If I try to open the shared folder of the machine I'm currently on from here, it causes a "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close" error.

I can go to the shared folder of the machine I'm on from My Documents and open it there no problem. The error only occurs when I try to open the shared folder of the machine I'm on from "My Network Places." This error is consistent on all my XP boxes.

Anyone know what's up with this?

I have no idea.

I use My Computer to explore shared drives on my LAN.
