Strange problem with NEC cdrw in AX59pro

HI,
My friend just bought a NEC 16x10x32 cdrw, he has a AOpen ax59pro mobo. The nec cdrw is running fine in my p4 setup but fail to run at his k6-400 setup ! ANyone have a solution here ?
