Strange problem with my computer today

All of a sudden my computer slowed down about 100 times. It didn't stop or lock up. It just got really, really slow. Open IE, 1 minute!

Restart, took about 10 minutes to get Windows loaded up.

Really strange.

Then I figured it out. I had a DVD + rewriteable disc in my SATA drive and the disc was starting to go bad. I forgot it was in there and kept working while it was loading. It never loaded just slowed the heck out of my system.

Took the disc out and everything was back to normal.

Perhaps this has something to do with the SATA DVD interface? I don't know.

I just wanted to pass on the experience in case it happens to someone else.

Nah, I've had similar problems with IDE drives. I think its when the disk is mostly corrupt or unreadable. The computer just keeps reading it over and over and over. Sometimes when that happens I can't even open up the drive, I have to use a small pin to force it open.
